I know that the year is almost over, but I would still like to be a part of this year's challenge. Here is a link to my 999 challenge page: http://www.librarything.com/topic/64363

Welcome to the group! If you are interested, we have also set up the group for 2010 already as well.

Thanks! Does anyone have suggestions for travel narratives?

#4: Do you have any specific location in mind? I have read The Cobra's Heart, Their Heads Are Green and Their Hands Are Blue, and The Great Railway Bazaar this year as well as My Family and Other Animals last year. The books cover different areas of the world.

I'm a travel narrative fan. Here are two that I love: In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson which is a funny look at his visit to Australia and An Unexpected Light by Jason Elliot which gives a westerner's wonderful insight into Afghanistan and its people.
