Hi,

is anyone aware of Persian retellings of the Jataka stories (perhaps with accompanying Persian miniature paintings) ? I heard of this in the past and the Wikipedia article mentions them without citation.

Also, I have proposed the combination of the tags "Jataka", "Jataka Stories" and "Jataka Tales". If you agree that these are synonymous, please vote here (bottom right of the page):

It may be hard to prove direct retelling from a single original. But certainly there are Persian fables with Indian sources including the Panchatantra and Hitopadesha and Jataka.

For example, The Tortoise and the Geese is the Kacchapa-Jātaka. And the MFA has an illustration to a Turkish version.
