I think it's great that you've made a community for ARCs. I've searched for on, but this is the only one that i've seen.

You collect reader's copies? Really? any or only special ones?

I admit to having a lot of ARCs; I accumulate them but don't collect them. I need to do a purge though, there are some I just am never going to get to!

I don't know if it counts as collecting if I get them from work (Borders) and often don't keep them. We're allowed to take two a day, so I usually take one for me and one to post on Bookmooch :)

I work at an independent bookstore, and we get a fair amount of ARC's, though I am sure the big chain stores get a whole lot more than we do.

We used to have a rep from Random House come every month just to push advance readers on us, but sadly she was laid off so we don't get as many as we used to. We have to wait for our GM to go to a GM conference and she'll bring back, like, 10 boxes. Wooo.

I'm so pleased to have stumbled across this discussion. I love it when I get an ARC copy. It gives me a buzz to be reading something that isn't on general release yet. I only have a small collection but am slowly gathering more.

The ER program is a great source. Book swap sites, such as BookMooch.com are good sources, although some sites don't allow them. Finding them on a site is a bit of a treasure hunt, but all the more fun for that!

I just started counting how many I have in my collection at home and as of right now I own 36 ARC's and Galleys. The number might even be a little but higher too. I was thinking of posting the ones I own here in this group. I used to buy them all time from a local Second Hand Book Store plus every once in awhile someone will bring them in for our Book Exchange Cart in the Library and when I see one on it I immediately snatch it up.
