Located at 625 Osborne Street, Osborne Library is located in the Fort Rouge Recreation and Leisure Centre. The library formally opened in 1941 in a storefront at 719 Osborne followed by a move in 1957 to 700 Osborne. In 1982, 150 children from local schools took part in a book brigade to move books to the new location two blocks down the street at the Fort Rouge Recreation and Leisure Centre.
Collections & Circulation
Osborne Library has a collection of fiction and non-fiction English books, periodicals and audio-cassettes for children and adults. The Children's Department has a deposit of French materials. The library also receives a deposit of adult large type books. As a result of an annual donation from Mrs. Gene Dufty Odell, the branch also houses a Toy collection. Osborne Library circulates approximately 100,000 items a year.
Osborne Library has ample parking and is accessible by wheelchair. A multi-purpose meeting room with a maximum of 40 people is available for public rental in the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre. To book the room, call 986-4930. A book chute is located next to the outside entrance for return of items after regular hours.

Story time is an interactive program of stories, songs and finger plays for children 3 to 5 years of age. All children must be pre-registered for the program.
