The management of the Greater Victoria Public Library locked out its library workers and closed all its branches on February 17 due to a long-standing dispute over pay equity. The libraries remain closed as of today (March 9).

The citizens of Victoria - supposedly among the most book-passionate in Canada - are completely without public library access, and all because management steadfastly refuses to honour its previous promise, made in 1992, to observe pay equity.

If you go to the website noted at the top of this listing, you can read the management version of the picture.
