Kilcullen library opened in 1978 on the main street, in the building which the credit union now occupies. In 1984 the library moved to it’s present location on New Abbey Road, across from the Catholic Church and close to the main street.

The current library building was originally a boy’s school, built in 1925, and used as a school until 1980.

The building consists of a small vestibule opening into a large, bright well proportioned room, which was originally split into two classrooms. This area now holds the adult and junior lending and reference sections, and the public access computer. The walls are displayed with paintings by Camphill Community.
