A great book for any fan of Presidential History and a very good look at the behind-the-scenes operations of the White House. Can't recommend this enough for any history buff! This is a wonderful piece of historical fiction, centering around a black woman who works as a maid at the White House. It follows her life, and that of her children, as she struggles with poverty, while at the same time witnessing history. She remains employed at the White House through several administrations, and eventually her daughter also becomes employed there. The story is wonderful, with realistic and endearing characters and a big dose of American presidential history. I couldn't put it down. no reviews | add a review
