The village of Aldborough in North Yorkshire was once the site of one of the northernmost urban centres of the Roman Empire, known then as Isurium Brigantum. Founded in the 2nd century, perhaps under the Emperor Hadrian, the Roman walled town acted as a focus of the Brigantes, the largest tribe in Roman Britain. No library descriptions found. |
