In my opinion, this is a fantastic book. In this books, a Mama Cat is telling her child how much she loves him through all of the seasons. I love the descriptive language that the author used to describe each season. Instead of saying, "In winter it is cold and snows." the authors wrote, "I love you when the winter blows- when wind chills our faces, finger, toes, when snowflakes glitter the quiet night and morning greets us all in white, and we pull on our gloves and race outside to speed our sled on a downhill ride." The pictures in this book perfectly correlate to the text. When the author writes about the sweet smells of springtime, flying kites, and all of the crocuses, tulips, and daffodils blooming, the pictures show all of these things. The mother and child are smells flowers on one page and on the next page you see not only the Mama cat and her child, but several other families all flying kites in the springtime breeze. I love how the illustrator used very soft colors for the illustrations too. I think it really helps to calm a child down and help them focus on the story. I like that the main idea of this book is for a child to know that no matter what time of year it is and what is going on around them, their parents love them. ( )

Rose's simple rhymes speak of a mother's love through all the seasons of the year. The real attraction, for me, is Kay Chorao's delicate and exquisite drawings. They draw out the sweetness of Rose's text without descending into the saccharine. Weed your copies of "Love you forever" and add this one instead!

What a delightful read this book is. I have indeed found a treasure in this story and artistry from Abrams Books for Young Readers that I was not expecting. All the Seasons of the year goes through with Mama and child things to do and time spent well together. Easily this is a book to read any time of year or day and will also make a great bedtime book. I love the kitty cats and so did AppleBlossom. In my mind this kitten could be a boy or girl depending on how you see them and I think that is great. I am very impressed by author Deborah Lee Rose and artist Kay Chorao and look forward to more titles from the both of them. Highly recommended.

*Thanks to Abrams Books for Young Readers for providing a copy for review.* ( )
