This brief book by the widow of Alec Hardinge, who was Private Secretary to Edward VIII during his brief reign, and then to George VI for six years to 1943, is an attempt, not very well written and inevitably one-sided, to rescue the reputation of her husband, from those who have seen him as disloyal to Edward VIII, and later, unable to operate in tandem with colleagues as well as he should have. Useful to fill in other accounts. ( )
