FROM PUBLISHER: Bee’s brother, Tommy, knows everything there is to know about sharks. He also knows that his life will be cut short by cystic fibrosis. And so does Bee.

That’s why she wants to make his wish-foundation-sponsored trip to swim with a great white shark an unforgettable memory.

But wishes don’t always come true. At least, not as expected. Only when Bee takes Tommy to meet a famous shark attack survivor and hard-core surfer does Tommy have the chance to live one day to the fullest.

And in the sun-kissed ocean off a California beach, Bee discovers that she has a few secret wishes of her own. . . . ( )

The Wish is a great novel about a boy named Tommy who has a dream of going and swimming with the sharks and actually getting to see them in person.Although he has to live with a medical illness,he still believes that he can do anything that anybody else can do.I really like this book, because he never stops trying to get his wish. Also, because they go to California to go swim with the sharks, and his sister is always there by his side.I reccomend this book to young adults who want a great read. 15 year old Bee is a dedicated student, popular and devoted sister to her 11 year old brother, Tommy who is ill with cystic fibrosis. When Tommy is granted a trip to see the sharks off of the San Francisco coast, Bee and their dysfunctional mother take Tommy to meet Ty, a young adult who survived a shark attack. When their mom decides that her live life is more important than Tommy seeing his wish come true, Bee takes it upon herself to get Tommy out to the dangerous location to see the sharks and the surf. Likable, vivid characters, quick moving plot and shark facts thrown in all make up a fast, easy read that will make you WISH you could meet these characters. ( )

This is a lovely book about an eleven years old boy who has cystic fibrosis and he is passionate about sharks. A wish foundation sends him on a trip to swim with great white sharks. His sister Bee vows to make it an unforgettable memory.

It’s a short story, which tells us a bit more about the lives of children with this disease,(their families) and interesting facts about sharks. The characters were lovely and real. The story was sometimes a little bit predictable but I have a good time reading it. Good for those who want to read something smooth, and quick.

I give it Two stars. It was ok. ( )

About an hour into flight from New Hampshire to San Francisco the attendant came over and opened her eyes wide, like people sometimes do when they talk to friendly dogs, and said in a puffy way that she had just heard from my mom that we were heading out to California to see a great white shark, and wasn't that amazing, she had a cousin who was a diver and he had seen sharks, but never a great white, an d weren't we scared, and she thought the cousin dove in the Caribbean, where was it, she couldn't remember, oh, yes, the Cayman Islands, did we know the Cayman Islands, and what kind of sharks did they have there?
