Very nice introduction to the history of palentology. The book is not a guide to fossils. Typical of the Discoveries series, the book is very well illustrated. The book traces how our understanding of the history of life on earth changed and developed over time. It shows how fossil discoveries influenced our ideas and understanding of the development of life on earth and all the people who played a significant roll in it. From creationism and belief in the flood to the great dinosaur discoveries in the American west. A well written and readable account. ( )

Book description
