Summary: This book tells the reader all about Big Cats in four different sections. It has great illustrations and fun facts that point out the difference between humans and Big Cats. ( )

Theme:Geography, science

Review: One of the major advantages of children's magazine is that it is replete with fantastic visual aids and big bold fonts that are easy read. I especially enjoyed variety of pictures. Both pictures and writings are enlarged, so it would be perfect if children sat around in a circle and teacher held the magazine while discussing and letting students explore the content. There is a short quiz at the end which students can take as part of the closure activity or informal assessment.

Curriculum ties: Geography (animal habitats), science (animal life cycle, what food they eat, compare and contrast with humans with graphic organizer, family tree), P.E. (jumping contest), social studies (cultural aspect), language arts (vocabulary, creative writing/daily journal prompts e.g., if I were one of the big cats, I would be...because...) ( )
