This book written in 1885 covered the story of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce through a knight who was around both men. This held up well and overall I did enjoy it, although dragged in one or two places. I would read other historical fiction books by this author. ( )

Good historical fiction about the war for Scottish independence. Reads easily, lots of action. Readable by middle-schoolers and above. ( )

Really helps put history of Scottish history in perspective.

Our family loves this read by Jim Hodges...Makes this classic effertless! All the hard words are pronounced for us. The only thing missing is a Scottish accent. ( )
