Being fat isn't all about the negatives. There are psychological advantages to being fat that can be successful (or not so successful) coping strategies for different issues. If you do not come up with different coping strategies, then if you lose the weight you'll have lost your only coping strategy and will very likely regain the weight in order to deal with things.

I'm surprised it's not more widely read and cited.

some very interesting points about the why and how of weight issues. Worth a read even if you discard half the ideas. ( )
