First half re their business and brief autobiography was very interesting. Second half about the garden felt a bit rushed in places - just lists of plants they have used almost.

Reread in 2016 and the plants section was of more interest this time around - perhaps because I am in the process of planting in the flower garden myself! Rating updated from 3.5 to 4 as a result. ( )

This tells the story of Monty & Sarah Don through a major change of lifestyle and the establishment of the 'Jewel Garden' at their home.

I found Monty's descriptions of how the light affected his mood through the progress of the year so interesting. ( )

I was interested to read of his early history, and enjoyed going along on the journey through the downs, and then the ups, as Monty and Sarah established themselves as a couple in a totally different way of life, and how they established and grew their wonderful garden. ( )
