The story is about two foxes who are great friends and have been living together for a long time. One of the foxes has a yearning to leave the foxhole and seek out adventure, which he immediately sets out to do, while his friend is content to stay at home, do some rearranging by digging a new exit for their comfortable home, chase butterflies and generally just enjoy the simple pleasures in life. The story is touching and the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous with delicately coloured, complex and greatly detailed etchings which are yet humorous as well. I'll be looking out for more of Ensikat's work; another illustrator I discovered on the Hans Christian Andersen Awards site, Klaus Ensikat was the recipient in the illustration category in 1996. ( )
