children's picture book/poetry. Would work well with older kids learning about haiku/poetry. Would work better with older kids who own cats (some things might need to be explained to people unfamiliar with cat behavior). ( )

Delightful illustrations and verse that capture cat behavior wonderfully. A great story also for kids relating to adopting animals from shelters. ( )

A great introduction to writing Haiku's. After reading this book, I would have children write their own Haiku's, perhaps around their pets at home or pets they wish to have.

There has been a proliferation of children's books using the art and poetry form of haiku. I love it! This book is a particularly cute example as it tells the story of a cat who is alone among cats in a shelter. When he finds himself with a new owner he has to adjust to his new life and his new name "Won Ton."

The most adorable cat haiku book I have ever read in my life. It is so clever with how the haikus come together to make a story so catlike in nature. LOVED IT.
