Some of these stories were contained in the Folio edition. Interesting to compair translations. This edition is much more of an adult book. I began to find some of the stories a little tedious and frustrating in their endless predictable ramblings, but the basic plots were entertaining, and the interwoven culture and customs made the tales worthwhile. Some of the stories I particularly wanted to read were not contained in this volume, so I may have to get the three volume edition another time. ( )

I listened to a full-cast recording of volumes 1 & 2 through Audible. They were so well done! I knew pieces of the tales, but not the details. I loved how many strong, smart women are part of the stories. The main character begins telling the stories to the sultan in order to prolong her life, one night at a time. The tales are racier than I was expecting. They also remind me a bit of the stories from Greek and Norse mythology. If you have Audible, I'd highly recommend their recording. ( )
