Fast read, and easy pace. The beginning of an awesome series. ( )

Another great Lisa Garner book!

When officer Bobby Dodge, a sniper with the elite STOP team, is called out to a domestic with shots fired, one bullet will change the trajectory of his life.

This fast-paced, twisted tale takes the reader unknowingly into the dark minds of a conniving widow, whose son's mysterious illness casts doubt on her as a mother; a pedophile, whose unexpected release from prison coincides with several savage murders; and a judge who would do anything to get what he wants - and what he wants is to cover up his own sorted beginnings. And following the one shot, all of these people become intertwined in Officer Dodge's desperate need to find answers in order to save himself and his career.

Oooh, the plot is rich with characters and sub-characters that each need the other in order that their scheme plays out the way they want. And just when it all wraps up, a red herring is found to have been at play.

Alone is a whodunit type of thriller that will not disappoint. I look forward to the next in the series. ( )

This was a fantastic read. It was very hard to put down and it kept me guessing. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. ( )

Bobby Dodge, sniper for the Massachusetts State Police, encounters a situation where he makes a split-second decision to kill the man holding a woman and her son hostage; however, things begin to unravel when the woman turns out not to be what she appeared and Dodge becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation.

Bobby was a tough cop trying to do the right thing. The police thought the woman he saved had manipulated the situation. There was also a psycho killer who was killing people who knew the woman. These things kept me guessing what the truth was. Although far-fetched, it was suspenseful and entertaining. ( )
