This book is a fabulous book about a boy who is a bit different from his classmates but is going through some crazy feelings, while also navigating first crushes. It is a great book that really captures what it looks like to go through middle school. ( )

This novel is a chapter book with poems. The poems are written by 12-year old, Joylin, who uses the poems to express how she feels about changing. This novel highlights the changes that are brought throughout puberty and shows how it is hard to fit in as a middle schooler. This book is useful in the classroom to integrate poems and real life experiences together. ( )

Awesome story in verse about a basketball crazy girl growing up. All the confusing emotions and changes, quick paced, funny story telling, great message. ( )

For twelve year's Joylin's life was just fine--a rough game of basketball was just enough to put a smile on her face. But then, overnight, her body parts started changing without her permission. Now all she can think about is boys. A heartwarming story, told in poems for middle school readers.

I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I liked this book because it tells a realistic story of middle school through poetry. The characters are believable and well-developed. The story is from the main character's point of view and thus we hear a story and also the feelings and emotions of the character. ( )
