An annual collection of essays by some of Australia’s best writers and journalists. All essays have been published sometime in the previous year, usually in an Australian publication. Several of the annual collections contain football themed essays. See Stephanie Holt, 1999, Peter Rose, 1999, John Carroll, 2000, Brent Croswell, 2002, Vin Maskell, 2008, and Anna Krien, 2011. First published in 1998, by Bookman, Melbourne, and edited for the first few years by Peter Craven, and subsequently published by various publishers, and edited by writers such as Robert Manne, David Marr, Ramona Koval, and Robert Drew.
