Being a bartender by night and law firm runner by day helps make ends meet for Kathleen Turner. Mostly. Being 23 and single in Indianapolis wasn't exactly a thrilling adventure, but then again, that's not what Kathleen wanted. At least, not until she met Blane Kirk. Navy SEAL turned high-profile attorney, Blane is everything a woman could want. The only problem? He's her boss. Blane is known for playing the field and the last thing Kathleen needs or wants is to get involved with him. But when her friend is murdered and it seems Kathleen will be next, she may not have a choice. Now Blane is the only thing standing between her and people who want her dead, including assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon. Beautiful but deadly, he'll kill anyone who gets in his way, even the woman who makes him question everything he's become. The deeper she sinks into the web of lies and murder, the more Kathleen realizes she can trust no one if she's going to survive. No one is innocent. Not even Blane.… (more)

I read this book in 24 hours. I enjoyed the intrigue of who is the real bad guy & I liked the slow progress of Kat & the men pursuing her. It was nice that she has a brain & doesn't just jump into bed with a man. I'm looking forward reading the next in the series. ( )

Kathleen Turner works as a runner for a law firm in Indianapolis by day and by night she works as a bartender. When she finds her neighbor, Sheila, dead in her apartment, Kathleen is determined to find out who murdered her friend. Sheila had been working as a high class call girl, so it seemed possible that her straight-laced boyfriend, Mark had found out and killed her, but when Mark turns up dead, Kathleen realizes he was murdered by the same people that killed Sheila. The connection leads her to a company called TecSol that is trying to create a computer program that could rig an election. The connections continue to mount as evidence points to the law firm where Kathleen works as being involved including the handsome partner, Blane Kirk.

No Turning back is a good romantic suspense story with a few twists and turns to keep it interesting. During the last half of the story, Kathleen's involvement becomes a little melodramatic as it spills into situations that aren't very believable. Also, since the story takes place in Indianapolis, it would have added extra enjoyment if more city landmarks had been included, but overall this is an entertaining book, opening an entire series about Kathleen Turner. From the stars of the show to the supporting cast, all of the characters in No Turning Back have something unique that brings them to life. Combined with the quality of writing and the perfect balance of romance, mystery and action, this book is a new favorite.

Kathleen is an average woman with no super-skills for sleuthing, but she keeps her wits about her when she finds herself in the middle of a mystery. In fact it’s her ‘average’ quality that makes her relatable and believable. The first person narration from Kathleen’s perspective keeps the reader guessing right along side the heroine, questioning loyalties and motivations. It’s nice to find an author who’s able to keep the reader confused and surprised instead of wanting to throttle the heroine for being clueless. Although I wouldn’t class her style as comedic, Kathleen delivers some witty one-liners.

Blane is a charming hero whose devotion to Kathleen surprises them both, considering his play-boy reputation. The sexual tension between these two is sizzling and emotions are explored in a realistic way. Kade is the man of mystery who takes a background role until late in the game, but has the potential to be a contender for Kathleen’s affections. The romance angle has satisfying closure, and yet the possibility of a future love triangle between these equally amazing men leaves the reader begging for the next book in what promises to be an exciting new series.

I bought the eBook and am now ordering the paperback, because this is a keeper to proudly take up space on the bookshelf. This debut novel is a fabulous career start for Tiffany Snow. ( )

Quick read overall. It is action packed and I enjoyed the story but I don't really feel connected to the characters. I am not sure why, but I didn't find myself really caring for them at all. But, it was still a good romantic suspense. ( )
