Bella, a young girl with Down Syndrome, meets Dan, a Marine blinded in the line of duty. This leads Dan to Trish, Bella's mother, who is struggling to pay Bella's medical bills, pack up her late grandmother's house and fend off her ex, Bella's father, who inexplicably comes back into her life seeking custody of the daughter he wanted institutionalized years earlier. Throw in a hurricane and you have this heartwarming love story.

The ex is such an irredeemable jerk you can't help but root for Trish and Dan. Bella is an adorable matchmaker as she wins Dan's heart which leaves him open to finding love with Trish. It is Dan's obvious caring for Bella that ultimately wins over the hesitant Trish.

I really enjoyed the relationship that developed between Bella and Dan - her acceptance of his blindness and his acceptance of her limitations. I hope that these three people show up in later books in this series. It would be nice to see how they are getting along.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I found this novel incredibly endearing. Trish is a single Mom, Struggling to raise her daughter Bella who has Down Syndrome. Dan is a soldier who lost his eyesight while deployed. To watch Trish and Dan move pass the scars of their past and, together with Bella, become a family.... was a treat indeed! ( )

I really loved this book! Trish a single mom with adorable daughter Bella born with Downs Syndrome meets Dan who is a soldier blinded while deployed. They have endured so much in their lives and so deserve their HEA! But will not come easy for them! Well written, kept my interest from beginning to end! Looking forward to reading the next book! ( )

I found Heartsight a light easy to read romance. The characters were believable though the romance developed very fast!! The epilogue confused me a bit with the space of time between it and where the story ended.
I enjoyed the stroy.

I've been in kind of a reading slump over the past couple of weeks so I decided to pick up this review copy from LibraryThing, expecting it to be kind of light and fluffy.

Well, it really isn't.

Trish is a single mom whose daughter, Bella, has Down syndrome. Trish's challenges don't so much lie with Bella as they do with her finances and her worthless ex-husband. Bella is a happy and curious child who is portrayed well. I work with children and am always interested in how people write them. I think Springsteen did a nice job here.

Dan is blind and just happens to meet Bella on the beach one day. After that she's hooked and so is he. Of course, it takes Trish a little bit longer to fall for Dan, but it's okay.

This story is the definition of a slow-burn. Each of these characters have their flaws and their reservations, but they are very well suited for each other. I love some of the scenes of them together where Trish describes things for Dan. It's excellent character development and you can tell that Springsteen knows her characters.

There is, of course the necessary drama in the form of the annoying ex. I don't think I've ever wanted a character to get swept away in a hurricane, but Gary made me will it really hard! He's a jerk and he's mean. I hope he didn't live happily ever after.

The ending felt a bit anticlimactic. I figured there would be more drama considering what was already happening, but that didn't happen. All in all, a decent read. Not so light and fluffy, but it still made me smile.

Thanks to LibraryThing for the review copy. ( )
