I could have used a bit more indepth characterization to bring it up a star. Biggest problem was you knew from the beginning they were going to get found out so I was pre-wincing waiting for the shoe to fall. I prefer not having that "okay let's hurry up and get this over with" feeling for so much of the book. Plus point was that they admitted that they loved each other about 2/3rds of the way through so that was kind of different. ( ) This was just a lighthearted romance about a womanising politician whom the public disapprove of,who pays a hairstylist desperately struggling alone to support her three children,to pretend to be his fiancee.A bit sexually frank for me ,but not nasty, and well leavened with humour, and charming characters. Not a genre I read usually, but it was a relief after yet another conspiracy/terrorism/ novel with crazed arabs wanting to blow up the world - we get enough of that in the real world!.Just pleasant and relaxing fluff between the serial killers.alien invasions and worthy classics no reviews | add a review
Fans of Jill Shalvis, Rachel Gibson, Susan Andersen and Carly Phillips are sure to fall for this smart, hilarious and hot romance from New York Times bestseller Susan Donovan, author of The Girl Most Likely To... and He Loves Lucy. Playing by the rules has left Samantha Monroe with an AWOL ex-husband and the task of raising three children on a hairstylist's salary. But when she hears that politician and notorious womaniser Jack Tolliver is on the lookout for someone to play the part of his fiancee for a generous paycheck, it's time for her new game plan. Jack needs Sam and her children to clean up his image. But he was expecting a frumpy single mum, not a wickedly smart, sexy redhead. And a mind-blowing kiss changes everything... Battling scheming opponents, troublesome exes, stubborn kids and some out-of-this-world sex, Jack and Sam find themselves toeing the line between make believe and true love. Don't miss Susan Donovan's sublime Bayberry Island series. In Sea of Love, The Sweetest Summer and Moondance Beach, escape to a special island where, legend has it, a bronze mermaid statue grants true love... No library descriptions found. |
