This was fairly disturbing in parts and focussed on a young woman who had been so severely damaged by her abusive childhood that her memories were partial and unreliable. In contrast, there were some very sweet passages about the lead detective DD and her new son Jack, and her relationship with Jack and his father Alex. I also learnt a lot about how pedophiles groom their victims online. ( )

The second Lisa Gardner book I've read. I liked this one better than the other one, it was a little more believable. The issue I have with a lot of thrillers is that the final plot twist often throws me out of the story, because it breaks my suspension of disbelief. Still, there was a lot going on which did make it teeter on the edge.

There were several instances of physical child abuse, and references (not depictions, thank goodness) to pedophilia and sexual abuse. So, the subject matter was grim. But the descriptions of how predators target children on the internet should be required reading for all parents.

Gardner likes to mix her POVs and this book was no exception. Charlene Rosalind Carter Grant has a first person POV, and Detective D. D. Warren was in third. I don't care for this generally, and found it to be distracting in this novel.

But overall, the pacing was good, the plot was twisty, and the characters were interesting. A good read. ( )

Catch Me (D.D. Warren, #6) by Lisa Gardner

Charlie Rosalind Carter Grant comes to Detective D.D. Warren claiming she will be murdered in four days. As D.D. begins to investigate she starts to question everything about Charlie.

Something seems off, but she is not sure what. As the days count down, secrets will be revealed, lives in danger and no one is quite who they seem to be.

A fast paced thrilling suspense. Twist, turns and secrets slowly revealed had me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought I had it all figured out a another shocking event. I was engrossed from the first page until the last.

A must read for Lisa Gardner fans and those who enjoy a great crime/thriller/suspense. ( )

Awesome again!!! Lisa Gardner should really start writing for Criminal Minds or CSI or something! This one had vigilantes chasing pedophiles, serial killers and split personalities, an abusive husband, a mother with Munchausens by Proxy, repressed memories, and a dog! Not sure if you could fit anymore into a book and still have it come out as amazing! ( )
