I was addicted to Niven's style and this like all his books in the "Known Universe" series were excellent ( )

Writing the ultra-short story is a special skill, especially with science fiction, where the author must include information about the surroundings and characters that is assumed in regular fiction.

This book contains short and ultra-short science fiction by Larry Niven. Tales from the Draco Tavern and its interstellar clientele; "The Meddler," about a private investigator named Bruce; "Convergent Series," a clever story about what to do when you've conjured up a demon who's going to drag you to Hell. The stories are:
- The Nonesuch
- Bordered in Black
- Night on Mispec Moor
- Dry Run
- The Schumann Computer
- Plaything
- Mistake
- Cautionary Tales
- Wrong Way Street
- One Face
- The Meddler
- Rotating Cylinders and the Possibility of Global Causality Violation
- Grammar Lesson
- Transfer of Power
- The Subject is Closed
- Like Banquo's Ghost
- Cruel and Unusual
- Singularities Make Me Nervous
- The Deadlier Weapon
- Convergent Series
- Assimilating Our Culture, That's What They're Doing

For more ultra-short stories, science-fiction see Mike Resinick's Whatdunits. ( )
