This mouthwatering realistic fiction piece shows Mud Pie Annie mixing her way and baking with all the mud she can find. She makes course after course of delicious treats, sampling each as she goes. However, when she offers it to the neighbor kids, they all feign allergies or claim they have just eaten. When her parents come to try a piece they shout, "WE'RE ON A DIET!" They take little Mud Pie to the bathroom to be washed, and there she realizes that no matter what she does, she'll do the best that she can do. ( )
