In this book, a young girl and her grandfather sneak away from home one night in a bid to climb the staircase to the moon. The pair brave blood-thirsty mosquitoes, dive-bombing fruit bats, boab trees that loom like giants and sinking mangrove mud before making it to the foot of the staircase. From there they climb the steps and have the time of their lives, leaping like acrobats on the moon's surface. No library descriptions found. |

This book was inspired by the illusion of golden staircase of the moonlight on the mudflats at low tide in Broome, Western Australia.
while I liked the idea of the story it didn't quite build up the excitement level for me, and one of the illustrations didn't match the storyline.
