An enthusiastic book, Todish's study filled an important gap in the literature by providing a concise survey of the French and Indian War. Anderson's more recent The War That Made America fills this gap better now, but Todish's book remains a useful companion. The numerous photos of most of the present day sites are very useful for anyone planning a staff ride and his passion for the subject permeates the pages. ( )

An excellent little primer for anyone wishing an introduction to America's first First World War. Written in simple matter of fact prose and illustrated with a wealth of photographs taken over the course of many years of reenacting the period, living historian Tim Todish provides a concise overview of the key battles and campaigns of the French and Indian War. Recommended. ( )
