Follow Self or follow God?

“Plan B” by DeAnne Hall follows the life of Divine, from her teenage years into adulthood. This book is a work of fiction but at times it reads as if it is biographical. Divine has a high school sweetheart that she is sure is her soul mate and she goes on to marry. Her family and friends, however, are convinced that another young man is the mate that God has brought into her life but she only thinks of him as a friend.

Both men are taken from Divine’s life. Divine feels as if her life is spiraling out of control and that she has lost touch not only with herself but also with God. “Plan B” goes on to tell the story of how she worked with a therapist to take back control of her life, to heal old wounds, and to move forward with her life.

Hall has written a book that is meant to inspire and encourage people to ask for help and guidance when needed. There were some gaps in the story, but hopefully they will be answered in DeAnne Hall’s next book “The Foundation.” Overall, “Plan B” was a solid read.
