Fiction but based on the life and times of Deputy U. S. Marshall Bass Reeves. Reeves was a black man who through his dedication and fairness was respected by white, black and native citizens. When he was assigned a writ to be served, he did his best to complete the job.

The novel also includes other important pioneers from the early days of the Indian Territory before it became Oklahoma including the famous hanging judge, Issac C. Parker. The author includes a list of his sources so you could do more research on some of the historical characters he includes in the narrative.

A rousing good story that kept me reading. ( )
