This book is about monsters who are famous movie stars. The author David Alder, finds ways to connect measurements into everyday life. Students will be able to find a connection between mathematics and their life. A teacher can read this book to their students when learning about perimeter, area, volume, 2-D, 3-D, and many more measurements. ( )

This book explains the differences between two- and three-dimensional objects in a kid-friendly way using the examples of movies and monsters. Explaining length, width, and height and how they are represented, Adler demonstrates how changing the dimensions of an object affects its size. The book is cute and uses relatable topics to introduce students to measurement concepts. I would use this as an introduction for a lesson. ( )

This book did not have a storyline, but it did go into great detail on how to find perimeter, area and volume in real world terms. The book uses tons of vocabulary, which is extremely important. This would be great in a classroom when teaching or reviewing students about perimeter, area and volume. I rated this book 5 out of 5, because of all of the vocabulary used and all of the examples that were used. ( )

Reading Level: 4.3[return][return]Summary:[return]This is a picture book about monsters who have to measure and calculate measurements of parts and things to the set of a movie. They must measure everything from the volume of the popcorn buckets, to the perimeter of the set.

This short book follows the life of a monster as he stumbles on the discovery of perimeter, area, and volume. This book would provide a great opportunity to involve literacy into a math classroom.
