Fiction. Romance. HTML:

When Lily Jacobs was born, she inherited Fazire â?? a genie. Her family had three wishes and they'd only ever used one so Fazire was stuck in the human world. This worked since he'd become a member of the family anyway.

Even with a genie, Lily's young life wasn't perfect. To escape the kids making her miserable at school, Lily buried herself in romance novels. One day, when the teasing was just too much, she used one of her wishes. She told Fazire she wanted to find a man like in her books and she made the most complicated wish Fazire had ever heard. Her wished-for man had to be impossibly handsome, virile, fierce, rugged and ruthless (amongst a dozen other things).

He also had to think she was beautiful and he had to love her more than anything in the world.
Nathaniel McAllister wasn't born to a life where there were such things as genies granting wishes. His life was filled with drugs, crime and neglect. He was running errands for a gangster before he was in his teens and, even though life and hard work led him to wealth and respectability, he always knew, deep down, he was dirty. When Nate met Lily he knew he was no good for her but as virile, fierce, rugged and ruthless as he was, Nate was no match for the pull of sweet, innocent Lily.

Unfortunately, Lily's wish included that she and her hero go through trials and tribulations to test their love. And Fazire wasn't only a good genie, he loved Lily â?? so he gave her exactly what she wanted… (more)

I think it's time to accept, that I simply don't like Kristen Ashley's fantasy books. I keep reading them and keep getting disappointed. I love her contemporary romances and I think I should read only them. I'm sorry, because I really wanted to like it. ( )

A bit difficult to get in to at the start and the idea of a Genie is odd but the story between the hero and heroine is a very very emotional ride.
Esp chapter 13 on.
Ex drama.
Meddling family that lead to separation.
Nate is amazing at times but other times I could slap him.
Tortured Hero past.
During separation Hero with others though no details.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating, despite heroine feeling he is at one point.
HEA.
Fantasy setting but typical KA Alpha Hero. ( )

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I started this book but it wasn't this. This came highly recommended about a possessive/jealous boyfriend. However, even though Mate had his moments, I didn't get that from him. The book was just a bit over the top for me.

I love this author but this was just okay for me. I struggled to stay engaged in the story which isn't like me considering I have loved so many other of her books. ( )

Listened to audio narrated by Carly Robins. This story takes a while to get to the romance and even after they find each other, the story continues through their ups and downs. After a distraught war widow rubs a decorative bottle, the last gift she received from her husband, the Ganie Fazire enters her life. She refuses to make a wish, giving her wishes to her still young daughter. Fazire becomes part of the family, when she finally makes a wish it is so she can become pregnant. That little girl makes a very detailed wish for a man who will love her. We see her grow and find her love but she also wanted their relationship to have trials to make their love strong. She gets all she wished for, some tear jerking moments to be sure.
