Annie's letters reflect the day to day of fourth grade. 4th-grader Annie Rossi and her professor father have brought a dog named Leo home to Apartment 10b. This fun collection of short letters is written by Annie and each resembles a diary format. Annie talks about school, her classmates, her teachers, her dad, and her mother, who passed away. There are fun illustrated sketches in pencil that accompany most letters. It's a lighthearted story and underneath there is a more tender emotional quality of a daughter losing her mom and Professor Rossi losing his wife. This book might be a good example for 4th graders to follow if the students want to keep their own diary or if they want to write letters to a pet like this. It's a neat idea. no reviews | add a review
