Annie writes letters in a notebook and reads them to her dog, Leo at night. Annie's letters reflect the day to day of fourth grade.

4th-grader Annie Rossi and her professor father have brought a dog named Leo home to Apartment 10b. This fun collection of short letters is written by Annie and each resembles a diary format. Annie talks about school, her classmates, her teachers, her dad, and her mother, who passed away. There are fun illustrated sketches in pencil that accompany most letters. It's a lighthearted story and underneath there is a more tender emotional quality of a daughter losing her mom and Professor Rossi losing his wife.

This book might be a good example for 4th graders to follow if the students want to keep their own diary or if they want to write letters to a pet like this. It's a neat idea. ( )

Annie writes letters to her dog, Leo, first about the dog business he should know as her new pet, then about everything else in her life.

A one-sided epistolary book of letters written from 4th grade Annie to her new dog, Leo. This book covers a school year, with lots of challenges and changes for Annie, whose Mom has died somewhat recently, and who discovers a new talent and outlet in poetry.

I absolutely LOVE this book! Written from the point of view of a 4th grade girl, and done in letters, drawings, and poems, all for her dog Leo, the reader becomes a part of Annie's every day world. ( )
