Scully and Mulder are in Central America to find a missing woman who was investigating Mayan ruins. But things get complicated and more than a little deadly. An appropriate plot for the X-Files franchise with a fast-moving story, on somewhat more exotic grounds than usual. Things, of course, get complicated but the pay-off is satisfying. Fans of the series will be pleased. ( )

The last 50 pages were enjoyable, the rest of it was a bit slow. Followed the X-files formula quite well though. ( )

This book is for hardcove X-Files fans. Nothing too special here. A long X-Files episode in written form. The author presents Scully and Mulder as they are on the show. The author (who has been nominated for a Nebula and Hugo, so don't judge him based on this book) does a workman like job in presenting this story. I enjoyed the book until the end when I felt like it became completely unrealistic (yes I realize the irony of this statement). I just couldn't buy the manner in the which the commandos attempted to destroy the temple. ( )

Pretty much your standard media tie-in fare, with no real stand out moments. This author does do well with the character voices, though. ( )

A team of archaeologists go missing in the Yucatan jungle while uncovering the most significant find in Mayan history. Mulder and Scully go to the ancient ruins to find out exactly what happened, where they find much more than they bargained for.

This was a nice quick read, and like all other X-files books, kept me in suspense. It was a little predictable, but overall a good read! ( )

Book description
LOST CITY, FOUND
When a well-connected American archaeologist Cassandra Rubicon disappears while exploring the lost Mayan city of Xitaclan, the incident becomes a case for FBI agents Mulder and Scully. They are investigators assigned to the X-Files, the strange and inexpicable cases the FBI wants to keep hidden--cases involving the paranormal, the supernatural, and possibly the extraterrestrial.

Mulder thinks there may be more to this case than simply a missing team of scientists--namely curses, blood sacrifices, and deadly reptilian monsters lost in the jungles since before history.

Scully is, as always, more skeptical anbd likely to provide the logical explanations for her partner's unorthodox speculations. Meanwhile, a covert U.S. military commando team has been sent to investigate, and destroy, a strange electronic signal received from beneath the ruins--a signal aimed upward at the stars...
