![]() None No current Talk conversations about this book. Absolutely love this book ( ![]() High 2/10 Not what I expected (in a bad way) and the story lacks depth where it should be there. Basically the top review is what exactly i felt At least the ending was nice. I think Si Sarah Lemon.... T______T The origin of Father Time blew my mind. The idea had so many possibilities.... but it ended up just going to a mediocre place. The book intertwines the stories of Dor (Father Time) and two modern day character, Susan and Victor. Susan, a love stricken-high schooler is contemplating suicide. Victor, 14th richest man in the world, is trying to figure out a way to achieve immortality. Susan's story was many times nauseating as she dragged me along in her teenage love angst. Victor's story was on the bland side. Just an OK book. Mitch Albom is an extremely creative writer, and "The Time Keeper" presents a wonderful fable using "Father Time" as a main character to reinforce the importance of time and to identify what's truly important in our lives. Through this short and very readable book, Albom uses creative imagery and characters to remind us that we often spend too much time dwelling on the unimportant, and too often focus on the wrong things. His book uses two main characters, a teenage girl and an aging millionaire, to tell his story. Each have their own problems, and each learns a valuable lesson of what it truly important in life through their interaction with Father Time. The book is a simple story, neither "preachy" nor "sappy", but drives home the lesson that life is precious, and time with those who are important to us in life should never be neglected.
Mitch Albom is an author of internationally bestselling books, including Tuesdays with Morrie, which topped the New York Times bestseller list in 2010. So he knew what he was doing when he sat down to write another novel about spirituality in a modern setting. In The Time Keeper, he sticks to his tried and tested literary recipe, which follows an elderly man on an existential journey to a grand realisation. This novel earns its place on the bookshelf for its compelling and original storyline; the man who first tried to measure time is punished by living an eternity. However, Albom fails to probe the full depths of this idea and is unable to write with enough style to carry it through into more than a clichéd censure on modern times.
After being punished for trying to measure God's greatest gift, Father Time returns to Earth along with a magical hourglass and a mission: a chance to redeem himself by teaching two earthly people the true meaning of time. No library descriptions found.
