Suds is a third grader who is working hard to be crowned the first angel in his class. Becoming the angel ends up consuming his life. Suds is always trying to do the right thing, and he wonders why his other classmates are not doing the same. Read to find out if Suds will receive the first halo in his class! ( )

A great early chapter book for children about elementary school. Relatable content for children about being a good student and child.

I used this book as a beginning of the year chapter book read aloud with my fourth graders. It was fun to have them reflect back on their third grade year and react to the characters in the book. It was a great lesson of self-to-text connection. The writing is sophomoric but for my students who struggled with reading, it gave them confidence to read chapter books. ( )
