This book is about Pearl having fears and anxiety about her new teacher after the summer break. The book begins with Pearl's class visiting Mr. Hat's class who will becoming up to Mrs. Star's room after the break and soon wondering who will be her future teacher. On their way to Mr. Hat's class Pearl sneaks into Ms. Bean (her future teacher) and thinks that she is a mean teacher. For the rest of the week, she worries and begs Ms. Star to stay with her the following year until a teacher baseball team convinces Pearl that her new teacher will be great. This is an excellent book for any young student about to move to a new grade and feeling a little nervous. The size and amount of text is perfect for a beginner reader transitioning into novels and the illustrations provide additional details to the text as well as fun to look at while reading. I also enjoyed the quick knock knock joke done at the beginning of the book. Based on other books by this author in the series, a joke is always included. ( )
