Umfassende Analysen des globalen Kapitalismus haben wieder Konjunktur, und mit ihnen kommt auch der zwischenzeitlich totgesagte Karl Marx wieder zu unverhofften Ehren (Negri/Hardt, Robert Kurz u.a.). Freilich scheint diese Auseinandersetzung durchweg recht oberflächlich, findet zumindest Michael Heinrich und plädiert somit für eine Neuaneignung der Marxschen Theorie selbst. Daher zeigt er Wege zum Verständnis des Marxschen Hauptwerkes, dem dreibändigen «Das Kapital» aufgezeigt. Plastisch und verständlich skizziert Heinrich die historischen, ökonomischen und sozialen Rahmenbedingungen für die Entstehung der «Kritik der politischen Ökonomie», geht auf deren methodischen Grundlagen ein und stellt die wichtigsten Begriffe und Konzepte vor. Was ist eigentlich Kapitalismus, und was hat es mit der ominösen Dialektik auf sich? Wie entsteht Mehrwert? Was ist Fetischismus, und wie verhält es sich mit Politik und Staat?
