2858 Confessions of a Convert, by Robert Hugh Benson (read 7 Apr 1996) Back in 1942 I read a book by Benson and when I saw this book (published as a book in 1913) I wanted to read it. His father was an Archbishop of Canterbury and had died in 1896. Robert Hugh Benson became a Catholic in 1903. This is a sweeping and well-written book, though one realizes regretfully how changed is the Church today from what Benson so much admired: we have given up things which attracted him. This book is thus dated but still revealing and well worth reading. ( )
