Pretty good, the beginning was a bit slow, but it got better as the story progressed. You notice quickly that Cussler follows the same pattern in every book if you have read some of his books, but it works often even if one rarely gets surprised. But I do enjoy reading a Cussler book now and then. ( )

Typical Clive Cussler fare. Extreme amounts of daring-do, characters (good guys) with unlimited amounts of stamina and strength, and plenty of last minute save-the-day events. Realistic? Absolutely not! But with a decent plot, well researched technology and a little bit of history thrown in, it was just what I needed after my last, much more serious, read. Personally I like the Isaac Bell stories better than Dirk Pitt. ( )

Well. I listened to it....massive continuous action means no action. It is repetitive and boring that way. Again, hard to separate the two Dirks and also that the senior Dirk is out in the field with his whole Washington DC staff is anathama. There is nobody at the capitol to defend NUMA and after this time, it would have been gobbled up by it's aggressors and it's budget eaten by others. Addition of a useless NCIS agent was a weird twist--she was captured twice and bad things happened to her--for what reason? I may be getting tired of the series, but I'll soldier on...almost done after 22 episodes. ( )
