An ok romance. I had problems with the main character Emma. She was too modern in her attitude about being seen in just her shift. She wasn't embarrassed by Matt seeing her partially dressed. That seemed unlikely for a girl living in that time period.

She wouldn't move to California with Matt because she loved her home to much. It took me a while to figure out why that didn't ring true. She only thought about it when she needed a reason not to go. It wasn't portrayed as something she felt at other times. It felt forced. Matt thinks more about the place at other times than she does. When there was a prairie fire she doesn't seemed that worried about her home. Matt thinks she risked her life because her home was in danger, but she hadn't. She didn't seem that concerned. It was Matt she worried about.

In a romance there has to be some problem in the way of the couple getting together. Here it is that Emma wants to stay and Matt feels he must leave because a killer is after him. Unfortunately the author does a much better job of portraying Matt's growing love of Emma and the home he built for her, than Emma's love for the place. ( )

Emma Parker chassa d'un coup de langue la poussière qui ternissait ses lèvres pour les rendre plus brillantes et plus appétissantes, mais cela ne servait à rien.
