I found Punishment, by Linda Rocker, to be a fast moving legal thriller. The novel contains multi dimensional and well developed characters, plots and sub plots and many surprises. This is an interesting book to read and the ending is a shocker.
I received this book free of charge and I give this review of my own free will. ( )

This is a fine legal thriller, intended to be the first of a trilogy. It contains some inside perspective of court procedures given by the author, a Florida judge. There are the usual twists and turns, a few red herrings and a nice quick finish. Having spent a couple of decades in the legal system, I still enjoy a court room drama and crime investigation, and this is a good example by a new author. The chapters are short and the book a quick, easy read. Three and a half stars.

This is a compelling book. The author has found a wonderful outlet for sharing her knowledge of our legal system. I was torn between trying to stay up and finish it and not wanting it to end. The characters are real and the story is multi-layered to give the reader a satisfying read. ( )
