Politics have never been October ??Toby? Daye??s strong suit. When she traveled to the Kingdom of Silences to prevent them from going to war with her home, the Kingdom of the Mists, she wasn??t expecting to return with a cure for elf-shot and a whole new set of political headaches.

Now the events she unwittingly set in motion could change the balance of modern Faerie forever, and she has been ordered to appear before a historic convocation of monarchs, hosted by Queen Windermere in the Mists and overseen by the High King and Queen themselves.

I didn't want this one to end. Sadly, it did. I am just as in love with this series now, on book 10, as I was from book 1. McGuire is so, so talented. ( )

Are they perfect? No. Did I lose sleep and chain read them on my ereader? Yes, a thousand times yes.
Toby has the cure for Elf-Shot but Faerie has to decide what to do with it. So a convocation of leaders and messy murders ensue that Toby has to investigate. ( )

This series gets better with every book. The characters become more nuanced, the world grows bigger and more spectacular, and the writing... Well, the writing was amazing to begin with (in Rosemary and Rue) and it just gets so damn much better as you read further. I highly recommend starting at the beginning just so you know how impactful and beautiful this story is. ( )

Interesting developments in the debate about whether to allow the cure for elfshot to be used now that it's been created. Not sure I like the lows which Toby has to go through by the end of this one. But I did appreciate the pixies helping her in the forest. ( )
