I found this twelfth book in The Women's Murder Club Series, an extraordinary roller coaster ride from beginning to end. The action never stops as Lindsay, Yuki, Claire, and Cindy capture our imagination and hearts again. First, we witness Lindsay's horrific delivery of her sweet baby girl, Julie. This book captures the terrifying worry that accompanies the working mother when it's time to go back to work and leave your newborn in the hands of others. At least Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer has a capable and loving husband to care for little Julie. Still, I cried more than once as Lindsay and Joe fought to take in the worst news parents can get. Yuki Castellano has her moments in this book. Not only is her character as a determined prosecutor cemented in a tricky murder trial with a surprise ending but her wit and playfulness come out as her relationship with Lieutenant Jackson Brady grows. Cindy and Richy have a falling out—is it permanent? —and Claire gets sidelined in the morgue. With short, explosive chapters, the authors capture the often humorous, often horrendous side of the law, life, love, and the random human experience. ( )

Some complain about too many story lines but I loved them. When this series sticks to one or two characters i am left to wonder what the other girls are up to! Can't wait for #13!! ( )

12th of Never
Women’s Murder Club, Book 12

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: CCP Library
Dates Read: 1/22/22 - 1/26/22
Stars: 4

The Characters:

Lindsay Boxer: Police detective
Clair Washburn: Medical Examiner
Yuki Castellano: Attorney
Cindy Thomas: Crime desk reporter

The Story:

The mysteries in this book were captivating but what Boxer and Joe go through was truly terrifying. I don't have much to say other than that. Fish was creepy and the missing body was astounding but yeah Julie stole the show from the time she first showed up.

The Random Thoughts:

Between this series and Jessica Jones I’ve been having crazy dreams, specifically one about a stalker. Gonna have to take a break so my subconscious can come up with something less scary.

Book description
Detective Lindsay Boxer’s baby is finally born—and the
Women's Murder Club will never be the same. While
Lindsay and Joe are at home in bliss, San Francisco gets
hit with multiple killings. An eccentric English professor has
been having vivid nightmares about a murder that he
claims is real. No one believes him—until a vicious shooting
fits the man's description to the last detail. Then the girl-
friend at a star player tor the San Francisco 49ers is found
dead in her car, making the athlete the prime suspect. This
seems like an open-and-shut case—until the body inexpli-
cably vanishes from the morgue. When the desperate
chief of police calls for help, Lindsay must return to work
after only one week at home with her newborn. But all the
crimes in the world will seem like nothing when she suddenly
faces the most devastating loss of her life.
