My Wishful Thinking is a fun, light-hearted romance with an insightful message. Would you really want all your wishes granted in an instant? (I think I would, actually, lol) With serious issues interspersed with plain old magical fun, My Wishful Thinking is a great read! ( ) This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. This is a great YA book and I’m excited to see what the author has in store for us next.Logan, or Lo, is a teen girl working at her aunt’s consignment shop when an eccentric magician drops off a mysterious bag, claiming that he didn’t want what was inside. When Lo’s best friend Emily shows up, the two girls pry open the bag and out pops a genie. Unlike Aladdin’s genie, this one, Eugene, looks like your average teen guy. Since the friends opened the bag and released him together, they must always make their wishes at the same time for the same thing. After a series of superficial wishes involving shoes and physical appearances, the girls take the wishing more seriously. I appreciate that Lo and Em are not saints when it comes to their wishing - Delisle did a great job write ‘real’ teenagers - and they learn the consequences of self-serving wishes. In the end, of course, integrity pays off, but in a way that makes you cheer, not in a way that leaves you feeling disappointed by the predictability. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of YA. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. I found this fun and exciting to read. It kept me on my toes and not wanting to put it down. I think the only problem I had with it was the from chapter to chapter it didn't seem to transition well. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. I received this book free from Library Thing to read and review. When I began the book, I had second thoughts about the book, but they disappeared almost immediately. Everyone knows what a genie is wants to have one, but that is just wishful thinking. In this story, wishful thinking becomes reality as Em and Logan find they jointly are masters of a genie. Having a genie would be great, but having to share a genie? That might not be so easy, especially since both have to say the wish at the same time. The author has developed a creative plot where two ordinary teenage girls meet up with and share a genie, called Eugene. In the story, they go through a series of antics that are both unusual and funny as they figure out what exactly to do with the genie. The author has created two very believable ordinary teenage girls with the problems teenagers encounter. From the get go, this book held my interest, through page after page of their having and working with the genie. I found the book a welcome respite from all the serious dramas, love triangles and paranormal plots I’ve been reading lately. It was pure, welcomed fantasy and made me remember all the I Dream of Jeannie shows from years gone by. If you are looking for a welcome relief from life’s trials and tribulations as well as a thoroughly enjoyable story, this book is for you. The author definitely shows creativity and promise. no reviews | add a review
What would you wish for? There's nothing magical about Logan Carter's life until the day a genie goes poof and promises to grant anything she wishes. The only condition is that she shares the genie with her best friend Emily and they must wish for and receive the exact same thing. No two people, no matter how close, can agree on everything.
