"Hornet's Nest" recounts how a detective solves a convoluted murder that involves several different individuals with their own agendas.
The death of a wealthy rancher and developer of the newly built Golden Eagle Casino, has State Marshall Tom Riggins on the investigation as to who and why regarding the killer of Henry McIntyre.  Tom asks for the help of his best friend, a retired Navy SEAL.
Tom finds a connection between the mayor of Deadwood, the dead rancher's own son Brian, as well as local casino owner, and a retired prominent attorney in town.
There are a number of turns, twists and diversions made by various individuals including a local ex-con rodeo cowboy roustabout and his girl friend, along with a hit set up by a New York mob group to take our Tom Riggins and his close buddy, Nick, Kovalenko.
Placing all of the leads together and coming to a surprising conclusion as to who the real killer is, becomes apparent when a sting operation is set up to entrap the killer, and those involved in the murder of several others.
"Hornet's Nest" is a crime-mystery-thriller of murder, greed, politics and deception in the Black Hills.
