Madison Spencer, the liveliest, snarkiest dead girl in the universe, continues the adventures in the afterlife begun in Damned. Having somewhat reluctantly escaped from hell, she now wanders the purgatory that is Earth as a ghostly spirit, seeking her do-gooding celebrity parents, fighting the malign control of Satan, recounting the disgracefully funny encounter with her grandfather in a fetid highway rest stop in upstate New York when sheâ??oh, never mindâ??and climaxing in a rendezvous with destiny on the new, totally plastic continent in the Pacific called, not at all accidentally, Madlantis.

I read about half of this book before giving up. Too gross, too stupid, too unreadable. Sad, too, because Chuck Palahniuk is one of my favorite authors. I'm very disappointed in this "effort." ( )

Doomed is narrated by Madison, a dead 11year old girl on temporary leave from Hell. Definitely not a point of view found in many novels and while the originality is refreshing for the most part. At times, it grates on the nerves a bit. We are a times treated to a child like point of view and at other times annoyed by a downright childish point of view. A different and interesting read. ( )

A lot of stupid nonsense that builds into an epic finale of stupid nonsense that is hard to resist. What can't I quit you, Palahniuk? ( )

Interesting read, full of snark and social commentary. Just wish I reread Damned before I started. This must be part of a trilogy, so before the third one comes out I'll have to reread these two again. Very enjoyable in both style and prose, enjoyed it more than the last few Chuck books I've read.
