One of the main characters is Eric, the second guy who was abused and raped in Fallon’s club (in book fifteen), who is now Becket’s friend; mostly because they suffered a similar ordeal, and are both students living in BK House. Eric’s case actually made it to court, since there was more evidence, and the story opens as the jury pronounces their verdict: a mistrial. Eric is furious. He wants to see justice done, and even if he cannot remember the details, he believed the evidence would be sufficient to convict Jigger. It clearly isn’t, so now Eric will not rest until more evidence is found. He has also fallen for Will, the older detective in charge of the investigation, and that only complicates things. Eric needs someone on his side, in more than a professional capacity, yet Will cannot act on his feelings until the investigation is over. Eris is persistent though, and determined to have it all. And when he finally remembers a few pieces of what happened that night, he hatches a very risky plan to reveal the truth. Will is in a tough situation. He feels more for Eric than he probably should from a professional point of view, but that isn’t his only problem. He is the one in charge of getting enough evidence for a jury to convict the criminal, and now he thinks he failed. He makes having a relationship with Eric contingent on getting Jigger convicted, yet the more he digs, the less likely it seems he will succeed. But that isn’t his only problem; he cannot resist the attraction to Eric, and while that is still dangerous from a professional point of view, it also sets in motion the personal growth they both need if they ever want to get over what happened. If you like stories about men who have a difficult past to deal with, if you want to discover the true perpetrator of several heinous acts against young men , and if you’re looking for a read about two men who are united in their need for vengeance only to discover love is more important, then you will probably enjoy this novella. NOTE: This book was provided by Totally Bound Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews. This is the only series of Lynne's that managed to keep me reading, but it was hard to keep going with this book. It should have been interesting - it's right up my alley and I liked the previous story which concluded here - but I struggled past the 30% point and ended up giving up around 79%. Reading Lynne's books are always very much like settling for a hot dog when you really wanted a steak - it deals with the hunger but leaves you feeling a bit gyped.
